IGBT Sizing Book or Any Reference Material

11/24/2020 12:48 PM

I need to build an IGBT circuit for 120VDC circuit, 10 AMP, for PWM application and I need to size a suitable IGBT circuit. and I need some reference book, or any instruction detailing how to size.

also some instruction on hard ware and software references to trigger the gate circuit.

thanks

with respect

Do you have experience designing electronic/electrical circuits?

If not, it would be miracle if you succeed in this endeavor unless you can copy a reference design verbatim.

IT IS NOT HELPFUL. I BELIEVE EVERYBODY LEARN IT FROM BOOKS. WHEN NOTHING WORKS AS YOU SAID, I WILL LERN AND MOVE. BUT AT LEAST I WILL LEARN SOMETHING. PLEASE DONT POST, IF YOUR COMMENT DOESNT ADD ANY VALUE.

Yes, books help you learn. Have you picked a PWM controller yet? That is the heart of your design.

DO you have recommendation for a type of PWM controller for this application?

thank you

It will depend on your application and choice of topology. Other than 120 VDC input source and up to 10 amps of current, what other requirements do you have for your application? Output voltage and current? Safety requirements?

IGBT's are generally slower than MOSFET's. Is there a reason you want to use IGBT's?

IGBT's tend to be preferable at much higher operating voltages.

thank you sir

now I realized IGBTs are for higher voltages. I was under impression that MOSFETs are more complicated than IGBTs for starters. But I appreciate if you have any input in this regard.

Not knowing your exact application specifications, here is a link to assorted controllers that you may use as an example or template. It also has some schematics.

I simply searched for it on Google..took less than 1 minute to get results...try Google you will like it.

https://www.google.com/search?source=univ&tbm=isch&q=120a/c+volt+10+amp+PWM+igbt+circuit&client=firefox-b-1-d&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi6yo_gn6_tAhWVsDEKHWfqDTYQ7Al6BAgEEAo&biw=896&bih=421

And here is some more reference material, also on Google.
