Micron Gauge

12/12/2020 9:33 AM

Looking for recommendations for a micron gauge for hvac service. Seems like no matter what the price, reviews say they leak. Figured it's time to upgrade from my old analog gauges.

Same here. Good gauges.

I actually prefer the analog gauges because variations in readings are much easier to see and interpret. If you have an oscillation or varying pressure, digital gauges just blink numbers at you. Some will try to put an 'analog' scale on the display, but you still have the issue with sample rates and the like. Oil filled gauges dampen the higher frequency pulsations but still allow you to see what's going on.

At my place of employment, they have some very good, very expensive digital gauges, but for some applications, the analog gauges just work better.

I have two gauges one is an electronic analog gauge made by Imperial Eastman "ANNIE" which has a scale starting at zero with the first marking at 10 micron, model A-14, old like me.

The second one I have is an analog gauge of the Dwyer magnehelic type. Old too but still works.

A newer one I use for HVAC vacuum checking is a Glycerin filled 0 to -100KPA type with 300degree scale.
