Twenty-three years after the 4077th closed up shop, the last Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (M.A.S.H.) has been decomissioned and handed over to Pakistan to support the victims of last October's earthquake.
M.A.S.H. units have been used for over 60 years from World War II through Vietnam and Iraq. Their enduring fame, though, springs from their association with the Korean War due to the fictional exploits of Hawkeye, Klinger, Radar and the rest. The U.S. Army has transitioned over to CASH units (Casualty Support Hospitals) which are smaller and more flexible.
