As normaly our systems are of inductive natures, They consumes reactive power.

This re active power is just a wastage of power as it can't be utilised for any usefule activity like a True real power.

This reactive power causes increase in current requirement and hence causes power loss as well as causes heating effect.

To minimise this Reactive power requirement, Capacitors are to be installed which have the tendancy of supply the reactive power & they can nullyfy the reactive power requirement of the inductance and the losses as well as heating effect can be minimised using capacitor banks.

Power factor correction at the load end of a cable. It keeps your feed cable conductor size down when you are driving inductive loads.

To save up your capacitors. Unfortunately, you don't earn interest.
