Epoxy bonding

Does anyone have any advice on bonding to polyvinyl floride (trade name TEDLAR) with epoxy (Ecobond 45)? I've had some luck with corona treatment of the the tedlar surface prior to bonding, but the epoxy pops off after sitting over night. Tedlar surface is cleaned with lint free clothe and alcohol immediately prior to corona treatment and bonding. I've also used acetate and acetone for cleaning with the same results of the epoxy losing its bond overnight. Thanks! Love this site!! Alden

You should contact the epoxy manufacture and ask for the technical support department. I would try several manufactures. Epoxy comes in so many types that you need to select the right type and surface treatment/cleaning to get the best bond.

tedlar bonding

You could try this, a method for bonding Polyproplene sheets. Although Tedlar has excellent anti-stick properties, it may not work. Polyproplene has a certain amount of oils on the surface that prevent bonding and must be flashed off. To do this a propane torch is used. It must be applied and moved along the area to be bonded rather quickly to prevent deformation, remember it is just to flash off the oils. Once this is accomplished cyanoacrylate or Super Glue can be used to bond it, but not too much about 1 drop every 3/4 inch. Keep it dry, water is an accelerate for super glue, sometimes handy knowledge. If this doesn't work contact dupont, the maker of Tedlar.

I was chasing down for my own purposes bonding for Tedlar on tedlar.com earlier today.

Evidently tedlar is a 'kissing cousin' to teflon, and has some of the same bonding issues.

There are some PDFs posted there from DuPont on bonding and adhesives for use with tedlar. Tedlar is a polyflourocarbon of some flavor.

BTW, I would like to get about 700sq ft of tedlar for a personal project. Does anyone know of a small order friendly supplier? White is preferred. I want to make a play blow up room for the back yard.
