New users Group: Motorcycles

11/18/2007 8:55 PM

I request the addition of motorcycle riders & builders to the list of potential user groups.

Any interested parties please reply

(Editor's Update: Nov 19, 8:36 EST) That's a great idea. Per your request, we've added a new hobbyist user group called Motorcycle Riders & Builders. All registered members of CR4 are welcome to join Motorcycle Riders & Builders or any other User Group. User groups are a great way for CR4 members to find and network with other engineers working in similar fields or with similar interests.

If you have an image that you think conveys "Motorcycle Riders & Builders", send it our way and feel free to suggest any other user group that you'd like to see.

Best Wishes and thanks for the suggestion Garthh!

- Chris

Dear Garthh,

I'll support Motorcycle Riders & Builders to the users list, if you'll support Political Science as a Category.

I rode everywhere on two different bikes for three solid years, covering territories from Rochester, NY to Manhattan and down to NC.

Rain shine hot cold, I went everywhere for three years on a Honda 450 from 78 or so, to a Honda 550 Interstate. In the cold I wore a German Cow.

Used up all my luck for sure.

My dream bike is the 650 Bonneville, or maybe a Buell.

Then again I dream of a little 125 since it would really suit my needs since I refuse to get in traffic where I can't go at least 55 or 65 if I really need to to keep from getting run over.

Once a mechanic asked me if I rode my bike hard. I said, "It's a motorcycle isn't it?"

I told my daughter not to ride on the back of a motorcycle with anyone who had not also flown airplanes.

I saw a notice of an electric bike that would fit my needs that costs 14 thousand dollars. Actually it would fit my needs if it cost 3,000 dollars instead of 14 thousand dollars.

The electric motorcycle run off a fuel cell that will do 160, or 67, from NC to CA would be a real trick.

As things are we really ought to make sure all roads have bicycle lanes since all you have to do to keep riding a bike, is eat, and avoid getting run over or given a heart attack from the fumes of diesel trucks, that may also run you over.

Well I did that when I was younger, just bicycles, then cars and trains airplanes, and then motorcycles and now just an old Honda Acura, and a Kia Sephia.

As said, I'll support motorcycles if you'll support political science, and airospace.

Hey Garthh,

That's a great idea. Per your request, we've added a new hobbyist user group called Motorcycle Riders & Builders. Re: New users Group: Motorcycles

Went to sign up for the Motorcycle Riders & Builders Group, and ended up as a Musician. Wanted to sign up for Ham and Rockets since I had my Radio Announcers License when I was 13, (back when you had to take a test), & was famous for launching Message Rockets all over Manhattan during the first Gulf War. - Was sort of like Graffitti, but different.

My current hobby is political science, and batteries, I guess.

Really I can't decide myself if there ought to be a "Political Science Rating" or User Group. The Off Topic Thread was too Off Topic eventually.

Possibly I ought to pose the question formally: What would be better for CR4, a Political Science rating along with Off Topic, or a Political Science User Group?

Here it is semi-formal, and off topic as far as Motorcycles are concerned.

Hello Garthh ,

Nice idea to form a group of motorcycle users on this dedicated thread , I always admired two wheels than four ever since i got my driving license , i am crazy about motorcycles and scooter for there manurablity , low fuel consumption and shear driving pleasure they offer than any car or jeeps .now in heavy trafics and speed limits plus emission norms two wheeler is best suited for city conditions as they cover distances quiet faster . Even though no luxary and safety gimics as cars that will be missed by motorcycles , but new electrics , hybrids ,alternative fuels should make two wheelers more affordable and adorable.......Thank you

MOST DEFENITELY IN. Sorry for the shouting, I did not realise I was still in anger mode.

I have pictures of my own build sidecar, a leaner, if you want to see it. It is however attached to that american lump of mine and in some pictures to my old sporty.

What the heck here goes.

Everything you see is home made bar the components like wheel, suspension and seat.

I even hand laid my own body after going to classes specially for the purpose.

One day it will be slimmed down and back on a lean and mean sporty just for the fun. You should see the faces when you take a corner with that thing and lay it flat like any other solo bike. And yes you can so don't even go there

That was probably the most fun I had on any bike ever. My sporty with my own build leaning sidecar.

What about the caferacer design.

I would love to build that one day. And then hang my rig on it and throw it about a lot. Nothing is more fun than having a sidecar and still the freedom to lean in the corners. You cannot split lanes anymore though. Bummer
