Harmonics in industry

I am looking for information regarding harmonics in rotating equipment in the industrial aspect. Any good sources and/or links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not really sure what you are asking. Are you asking about sound or noise issues? Or are you asking about harmonics in terms of machinery vibration at multiples of the machines running speed? Or are you really interested signal processing and Fast Fourier Transforms in analyzing rotating machinery malfunctions? Or are you asking about the frequencies associated with bearing malfunctions?

All of the above. The subject interests me, and I am looking for a good source of accurate information. How it works, effects on machinery, solutions, etc. Thanks for any input you may have.

Go Cowboys. I can't believe Atlanta allowed Shaub to go to Houston. Most fans would tell you he was a better quarterback than Vick. Shaubs in Houston, Vicks in jail.

Shaub, please come home.

Fluke.com covers the electrical harmonics.

Good Luck,

James

mythbusters did a peice on destructive harmonics...the verdict was plausible...nicola tesla postulated such for any given structure eg. skyscraper could be brought down by very small force in tune with buildings sway...marching armies 'break step' while crossing bridges for this reason. tibetan chanting should figure in here somehow...connecting with different brain wave patterns...

I would recommend the simplified handbook of vibration analysis by Arthur R. Crawford library of Congress Card number 92-72682
