There will be standards in place for cleaning and sterilization (and quality systems which must be in place for the manufacture) of orthopedic implants and such like.

You need to search for these and be sure sure to comply with the relevant legislation.

Also depends on the particular grade of stainless used. some machine better than others, some electro polish well, some don't. The quality of your surface finish will, to some extent, dictate the way that you clean it.

Mothers Brand Billet Aluminum Cleaner can be used to take the hard work out of polishing, then sterilize. I'm sure this isn't what they use but it is a super product.

Hola joeturko Different aplications require different surface finishing grades. Some are polished and others deliberately coarse to improve the fixation. I think your question (about cleaning) goes to sterilization process, not surface finishing. In spain it is more common to use cobalt or titanium alloys parts instead of Stainless steel, specially for long term implants. Also note that cobalt titanium parts must not be positioned close to Stainlesss parts, since corrosion can occur. I know that implants are mainly sterilised with gamma radiation or etylene oxid (C2H4O). Each method haves its own advantages. Is it what you are looking for? Saludos, Abel

Hello Friends,

Thank you for your kind information, What I mean is the finishing process so in the process what to be clean and what thing to be remove. In my place we still using a lot of stainless steel based product especially for trauma , and for other product like joint implant we using cobalt alloy. Should they have other materials using for joint implant?. Thanks a lot.
