Shall We Play A Game?

02/26/2006 11:18 AM

Welcome to a "sneak peek" article from the march edition of the MechNews from GlobalSpec.

Remember Pong? If you have good memories of that game, you may want to try the 3-D game Curveball, or perhaps Blocks of Death, and maybe Rush Hour. Engineering.com now offers a bunch of games to relax your mind. If you have Macromedia Flash, try them out here.

I got up to level six,but it moves way too fast at that point. The computer can make decisions faster than my blurry eyes can follow the ball. Did anyone make it passed level six?

While I can't figure out the scoring process and the bonus points, who cares... I still play. Does anyone know how many points are scored per hit and type of hit? I've made it to level 8 with all my balls left. But can't seem to beat level 8 and make it to level 9. Each phase uses a different type of spin and the trick is to learn the spin. Get past level 6 by putting down spin on the serve. Then hang on. Get past 7 by putting a downward right spin starting from the upper right corner. Better to use a mouse than a trackball. Good luck

I got up to level 8 once but it is usually about 6 or 7. Does the high score show up blank for you aswel? If not what is the highest level on the scoreboard?

Miniputt

02/28/2006 10:09 AM

I used to play that version of mini putt all the time a few years back. It's still one of the best simple simulators available. My best score years ago was 27. Today i couldn't get below 32 (but I only played twice).

This posting is over 3 years old and the link no longer works. Is there a new link or links available to current casual games to relax the mind that are popular with our membership?

My first aquaintance with relaxation & computer education through games was back in the early 80s when the first PCs came out. And they continue to facinate me today. As I am associated with a British company that has just launched a casual games platform, it would not be fitting for me to promote them right here right now.
