You need several good power supplies, oscilloscop, PC, Microcontroller development kit.

Loads of old electronic toys, shavers, printers and such like as a source of parts. A good box of hand tools, a pillar drill (drill press) small lathe, coffe mug.

Plenty of enthusiasm, manual dexterity and patience.

And a good catalogue for components...Farnell, RS, Digikey.

Log book, pen.

An old X,Y plotter would be a nice thing to start playing with.
