Recommended reads for basic fluid power system designing

12/01/2007 1:11 AM

Hello,

I have a smattering of knowledge of fluid power system components and their interworkings. I need to get more technical and specific as I am wanting to fabricate a small, very portable, auger drill. Can anyone point me to publications that could take me through rudimentary system design theory to practical application toward assembly of a finished product? Thanks much

I would recommend you get a hold of a copy of 'Industrial Hydraulic Control' by Peter Rohner (fourth edition, ISBN 0 9581493 1. Also, Rexroth have a good range of 'Hydraulic Training Manuals'.

There is also Brendon Casey from Hydraulic Supermarkets who widely advertises what he calls his 'Mother Lode' of stuff like:- ;Insider Secrets of Hydraulics'. They are a bit commercialised though!

Thanks for your input. I'll check these out.

So, you're in N. Tasmania...wow, such a small world! Have a good day. Kurt

The basic book is not tied to any manufacturer and follows a system from the Tank to the Actuators.

The circuits book shows over 150 types of circuts in schematic format with an explanation of how the circuit should operate and typical problems they may have.

You can download brochures in .pdf format at:

http://www.ifps.org/Links/Company_Links.html and scroll down to HYDRA-PNEU CONSULTING

Print the brochures on a color printer to see details of content and price.

I use the books to teach classes for Engineers and Maintenance persons who are interested in more knowledge about Fluid Power basics and hw circuits are designed.
