Is 100kgs the maximum weight that will be on the belt? Or will there be multiple loads of 100kgs that fall on the belt?

Also, is the belt length 10ft on a conveyor < 5ft in length? Or is the conveyor 10ft with a belt that is 20+ ft? This is important to help you figure out what kind of load the belt may have on it.

You will need to consider the worst-case-scenario as far as how much weight, or load, that the belt and drive components will be moving. For example, if there are multiple loads falling on the belt, determine how many of them could ever possibly fit on the belt at the same time. That is the number you will use as "maximum load". There are other possible sources that will create extra load, but you have not mentioned anything that would lead me to believe there will be any.

Once you've done that it should be easy to get a motor/gearbox for this conveyor. You can give a few companies a call and let them know what your looking for, and the should be able to tell you what you will need. And it's always good to have a little room to spare as far as power is concerned. You don't want to run the motor and gearbox into the ground moving something it can barely handle.

Hope this helps...

As stated above you need to have some realistic idea of what the max load on your belt is.

Continuous load falling on the belt-100 kgs

Do you mean that you will have 100kg at any given time over the entire length of belt? 100kg ... about 220lb ... is nothing. 3/4 or 1hp.

What do you mean by falling? If your product is 100kg blocks that are truely falling on the belt you will have pretty good shock loads to consider and need to be a bit more robust.

Also consider whether you will be starting the belt fully loaded and if so, how often. You'll want to add some power to compensate for this.

FYI... In my plant I have a continuously running 20in wide x 40ft belt (87ft total because of the tension/tracking mechanism) that at any given moment has about 1000lbs product on it. I run it with a 2hp unit. But starting it with a full load of frozen cookies...thats an animal.
