A typical way of doing laser light shows is with a set of x/y axis galvanic (or other type) mirrors. Basically, you point the laser at the mirrors. One mirror moves up and down, the other moves left and right, and with the combination you are able to aim the reflected laser light anywhere in a plane. Connect a computer to control the positioning of the mirrors and you can create any image you can imagine.

I got my master's degree doing this.

There are many ways to control lasers and create Imagery, special effects.Using X-Y galvanometers, Acousto Optic Modulators, Acousto Optic Beam Deflectors, Poly Chromatic Acousto Optic Modulators, direct modulation of DPSS lasers for blanking and Intensity control, etc...

To learm more try visiting this site " www.laserfx.com " and go to backstage, explore every area.

Then try going to " www.photonlexicon.com " join the group and introduce yourself as a beginner, look around ask ?'s

Oh yes - I had forgotten about the acousto-optic modulator. I used it with an aperture to form a shutter.
