Guest,

One of the good reason for outsourcing the architectural and engineering works is additional income for us professionals down here, it would also mean that we can showcase our talents in this field (we have plenty of good nor the best architects and engineers locally).........and its a mere truth that in every new structure starting from conceptualization to realization there is always one filipino involve...so outsourcing in a manner brings greater opportunity globally....

Outsourcing of engineering work to smaller firms with design skills with a strong local orientation is regularly practice by large international corporations frequently already. A number of US corporations find it more profitable to utilize smaller firms with typically greater design experience and lower administrative and managerial overhead to perform the work. These corporations then take a 15% mark-up for admin costs and risk exposure. This benefits the larger firms because it allows them to utilized more specialized design skill sets that they can not afford to keep on their own employment roles, and an advantage of local knowledge they may not have. The smaller firms gain the benefit of the larger firms huge marketing budgets and specialized administrative capabilities to process paperwork on behalf of client. So outsourcing will continue to grow at least from the US corporations as long as the market favors their service style. If the market shift more favorably towards smaller, quicker more adaptable firms, then outsourcing may adjust to the changing market.

Keep in mind many States in the US alone won't recognize engineering or architectural services as legal within the state if not signed by a licensed professional in that state. So there are some limitations to outsourcing. Plus the states are beginning to evaluate stricter policies on licensing (even though they already consider there to be a severe shortage of younger licensed engineers)
