KIND ATTN: ALL THE MASTERS IN NON DESTRUCTIVE FIELD

Dear Sirs,

.

we are manufacturing ultrasonic probe which is use with ultrasonic flaw detector to find out cracks or holes from the metals

I want some technical support to make very high quality probe which have high gain, very good sensitivity & resolution. For your knowledge I will explain you our making procedure of 4MHZ 24 MM DIA. STRAIGHT BEAM PROBE. Please tell me what changes I want to do for better result

First we take stainless still tube having ID 26mm & height 18mm. Take 0.8 mm thick cork sheet of 15 mm height apply Greece to the inside wall of s.s. tube & stick cork sheet inside

Take acrylic block having 25 mm round stepper of 0.3 mm. & mount s.s.tube on it. Solder +ve wires to the crystal & insert crystal into tube now crystal is 0.3mm above the surface compare to the s.s. tube surface make a mixcher of araldite & put pinch of tungsten powder after mix all this properly we put this solution into tube.

Next day remove module from s.s. tube [that is with cork sheet] then we take small piece of double sided copper sheet & solder to the facing side of crystal. & sheet comes from outer side of cork sheet now apply araldite to the s.s. tube put module in it. Facing contact area by araldite next day matching probe with inductor & resistor to the + & -ve terminal to get best result

Now can you feel that I have to make any changes in my procedure to make very good probe. If yes please inform me. & also inform me about angle beam probe [45Deg, 60 Deg, 70 Deg] & TR probe of 10mm Dia., 24mmDia.Making details or wher i will get this information

CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME MY EMAIL IS omtech1@rediffmail.com

Thanking you,

Yours faithfully,

For ULTRATECH ENGINEERINGS

If you're going to "reinvent the wheel", a bit more homework needs to be done 1st.

Then, more information is needed before a critique of your design can be made. For starters, what kind of crystal material are you using? Lots of R&D has been done in this arena in the past few years. Is this particular design of yours intended for contact-testing of carbon steels (only), or, do you intend on modifying the crystal facing material to acoustically match the angle probes (using wedges, I assume?) to which you make reference...?
Check-out references such as:
http://www.olympusndt.com/data/File/panametrics-UT.pdf and, after testing your own design, see how it compares with what's already out there. How large of a market share are you hoping to capture? You may want to find and address a specific industry need in order to get a foothold established.

Best of luck to you ~
