Help With Pneumatic Valve

12/07/2007 4:59 PM

Could someone point me to a 6 inch pneumatic valve that opens/close in as little as 5 millisec.

Thanks,

Walt

Have you tried the "Punkin Chunkin" web sites? I have heard

they use large fast acting valves.

<...6 inch pneumatic valve...opens/close...5 millisec...>

Phew! What about the effects of hydraulic hammer in a line of this size? Such speed would be enough to wreck someting! A controls lecturer once stated, "Slug everything. If it happens in less than 1 second, it isn't real." There are comparisons to be made between that statement and this posting.......

With a few quick (rough) calculations, the edge of a 6" (nominal) butterfly valve would be travelling at over 500 mph! And that assumes instantaneous acceleration.

Can now see the basis of chaos theory - a butterfly like this could cause some serious consequences !

Yeah, that's one short path to a class 5 hurricane!
