Rogowski coil

08/22/2022 5:00 PM

I want to use one set of CTs to metering and protection, and because of physical space and cost limitations, I can not use two sets of CTs (one for revenue metering and another one for protection). then, there was a suggestion to use Rogowski coil, and this would work for both (Revenue metering and Protection too).

1- is the above correct?

2- since this application is in Canada, is Rogowski coil approved in Canada for revenue metering application? specially if someone did this application already, please post related reference document for approval.

thank you,

Why not use a multi secondary CT with a secondary for metering and protection?

Having built many HV substations I have had dealings with CTs with up to 6 secondaries to allow for metering, indication, protection, differential protection and whatever some engineer deemed was necessary.

Being in Australia any manufacturer and part number would be of minimal use to you. I suggest you just do a google search on multi secondary current transformers.

ASEA, ABB, TE Connectivity are just a few that may be of assistance to you.

<...please post related reference document for approval...>

This is not the sort of thing that is likely to come out of a posting on CR4. Plus, the concept of approving others' documents can come across as arrogance.
