Why do we lose the editing icons and other permissions?

What operating system and browser are you using?

I have this trouble sometimes too. I normally use Chrome, but it seems to work when I switch to Edge.

(And I'm getting good at recognizing buses, boats, and lions...)

You can probably still post what you want in these circumstances by writing it in html code ...probably easier to use a code generator...

Back in the old days we had to post in html for any enhancements beyond simple text, this here looks like the page is being tweaked by off site host, and then the code is tested, reviewed and rewritten for compatibility issues...so probably just a temporary glitch....

Windows 11 and Chrome. I hadn't thought of trying Edge.

I'm using Chrome now; it's my thread, and, I do have the editing icons.

I have this problem from time to time with Firefox Ver 91.13.0esr (32 bit). Not all posts, just a few of them, including the Roman Dodecahedrons post as well.

And Edge Version 105.0.1343.50 (64-bit).

I sometimes suspect that it's something to do with posting large images: I will need to try another post after this one:-

into the address line of the browser: that activates the checking algorithm correctly, and everything is back to normal (in this thread).

Could be detecting third party links embedded in the image file ....

I've lost the icons, and ability to paste images again here.

But in other threads I've discovered that if I post a comment made with the depleted editor, then, edit it within the 15 minute time out it fixes the problem:-
