Concentric coring of a solid bar

Is it possible to cut a 140mm dia solid bar into 2 part as this?

Yes, there will be limitations on the solid circular bar. Once again, it all depends on many things you are not telling us. For instance, what is the moisture content of this bar of cheese?

Depending on the length that you can drill, a wire electrical discharge machining (EDM) tool can do some pretty impressive machining.

Yes, though it would be easier for the arrow to point to the left instead; all one would need is various sizes of hammer.

The end product should be a pair of a shaft and a sleeve with 2-3mm gap.

The core drill would have to be very thin to do this,and you do not state the length of the bar.

Usually the max depth is limited to 6 times the hole diameter.

Is the gap the total difference in the diameters,OD/ID or the concentric gap when the rod is centered in the core?

I think it would be easier to make two separate parts for the precision you require.

As long as you set the current really low, it won't melt the cheese in the machining area and then you get a clean cut.

Yes, there are many sources that trepan bar into “pipe” with a core as the inside drop.
