Robots are getting smarter, people are getting dumber and the partnership between government and media is controlling the narrative. What could possibly go wrong?

On a happier note, that is a very interesting video.

I agree totally. People are basically lazy and any effort (mental or physical) that a machine can take over will be willingly given up. Eventually, there won't be any use for us carbon-based creatures.

This thing is so slow...I don't know how humans can stand it, so primitive...

OK , so what's a job that you think AI will never master, and why?...or is there any job that AI can't do? ...Do you think robots are capable of replacing humans altogether...? A lot of the jobs done now are for human sake, like food production, the medical profession etc...But if robots did replace humans, what would be their ultimate purpose ? ... their motivation and goal..?....or would humans take on a God role as the creator of AI..?....and possibly worshipped by the robot community...?

I normally take no more than a 4 day weekend to use my vacation, unfortunately, where I work, no vacation time is rolled over to the next year… you use it or you lose it.

I’ve been taking my vacation, and helping my brother. On the family farm.

he’s putting in a robotic milkers. A lot of work, but I enjoy it. Robotic milkers have come a long way since the 1970’s.

AI is a tool, will it take over, no I believe not. Only the people that control that can do it.

As Dr. Jordan Peterson sums it up.

“If you think tough men are dangerous, wait until you see what weak men are capable of”

And we are witnessing it right now.

Those milking machines are amazing...This started as some pipedream of a farmer over 100 years ago, if only he could see what has become of this wistful dream today....

I recall in the 70’s, in dairy journals, such as ‘Hoards Dairyman’ , but the superiors never were good enough.

but now, the cows were RFID tags, and it collects data, when it eats, where it’ll dispense feed, and it records how much feed it eats, the cows temperature, it analyses the milk, check for somatic cell count in the milk for early detection of mastitis, where the robot will divert the milk and the milk will be diverted, and the cow can be treated with antibodies (I’m not going to get into the advances in natural antibodies).

it records milk production, butterfat as well as other components in the milk.

my brothers pretty excited about it, as he should. But at over $500,000 a unit, and that’s just the robot, doesn’t include the remodeling of the barn to accommodate the robot.

now, the herd size is about 70 cows. But it should cut down on the constant hours he and his son spends.

he has a part-time herdperson, and a hired hand.

Also, back in the 70’s they Dickey-John had developed automsteering on tractors they really came a long way. Especially with the advances in sensors and GPS satellites.
Which lead the way for other GPS systems.

he (my brother) bought a sprayer that had a GPS tracking link system to it. It would ID a field, and know where he sprayed to get full coverage.

it’s interesting, the GPS satellites the sprayer was using was very accurate. It was a Russian satellites. The contract with the GPS that was on the sprayer expired, and the company went with a US satellite. And the accuracy drop substantially.

Don't get cocky or I'll spray you with salt water...

That's a good answer. Everyone that deals with any kind of "machine": whether it's mechanical or electronic, knows how many precautions, and, how much effort it takes to protect it and keep it running. If a person needed to stop one it wouldn't be difficult.

Unless they tamper with the safety features… which happens with dire consequences.

In the old days, like when I built machines, when one individual built a machine and would know all advantages and disadvantages of that machine your observation would be accurate. Today's machines are designed by so many people that I am not sure if an AI could reliably be so easily stopped. AI in particular would likely actually reside in multiple servers with redundancies so one salt spray would do little damage.

Oh it might not destroy it completely on the spot, but it's going to have a bad day...and over time it's only going to get worse without human intervention...which puts humans back in charge...Having had a sailboat and serviced A/C units up and down the coast, I can tell you salt water and electromechanical equipment don't play well together...

I see that I do need to make a clarification.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) I'm considering will not reside in a peripheral that moves about in real space. The AI will reside in virtual space across multiple server platforms. Salt water spraying a peripheral will certainly eventually ruin that peripheral. The AI will itself will not be harmed and will be backed up at multiple locations.

Well that would be like a virus, so you just isolate, disable and block, but probably on a much grander scale...it would take some time, but it could be done...It would be just like what's going on now between hackers and programmers, I mean we are already under constant attack from nefarious sources...I think AI will be too busy defending itself to hatch out any world domination plans...

..."There isn't concise data on how many people get hacked a year. However, considering there are around 2,200 cyberattacks per day, that could equate to more than 800,000 people being hacked per year."Sep 1, 2022

. ..."560,000 new pieces of malware are detected every day."

You've got to wonder if the internet will become unusable at some point...
