Canon Maxify MB2720 Inkjet Printer

02/24/2023 1:29 PM

Sorry for this likely trivial question, but I've run out of resources to try to get a solution to my problem.

I do a lot of scanning for duplication and color creation in Illustrator. Recently, both color copying and color printing from Illustrator is really horrible. The colors are way off. I've cleaned extensively, I've changed ink cartridges, I've changed paper(s), I've dug through Canon files, and nothing seems to address the problem I'm having.

Again, sorry for this trivial issue, but if anyone has any suggestions or information, I would truly appreciate it.

Thanks a lot !!!

This erosion of color, did it happen overnight, or a period of time?

Any changes to workspace in that that timeframe? Specifically the data cabling, maybe electric power?

How many individuals have access to the machine? How many individuals print to this machine?

I had a Canon printer erupt with intermittent print quality trouble, the culprit was the new lunchroom microwave oven on the other side of the wall. Moved it a couple of feet, troubles went away.

Thanks for your ideas.

It seemed okay for a long while, but the changes seemed to be over a period of time.

I work from a home office, so not too many external electrical influencers. I do live in a rural area, and there were a couple of power outages in the past months, but that's never been an issue before. I don't have a UPS, but the printer is off when I am not using it.

I'm the only user.

Print quality deteriorates incrementally. No likely outside influence to performance. Maintenance performed, fresh consumables, expert operator.

This is a (more or less) $200 USD piece of equipment. As much as it pains me to say this... is it simply getting worn out?

My cynical self believes you don’t really get much for $200 bucks anymore. That sucks, but I guess that is the world we have allowed.

Make sure the printer settings have not been inadvertently reset to RGB and are set at CMYK...

You seem to be saying that you have two new problems: one with scanning and one with printing. Is that correct?

If both started happening at the same time then I think Doorman's suggestion is probably the right direction to investigate.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I don't have a problem scanning images. On-screen they look good, but when printed they look the same as when copied.

What did <...Canon...> say about this on the phone?

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, finding "someone" on the phone seems to be the "Illusion" of the day. Lots of check here, look here, advice, but very difficult to find a human.

In the UK there is a retail outlet called Currys (not an endorsement). Calling in there and talking to one of their technical gurus is always worth trying. It's possible there is a similar outlet at other longitudes.

Ha! I had a problem with an oven I had bought from Currys and asked the salesman in the ovens section about it: when I guessed that he had no idea what he was talking about I asked him to tell me the difference between pyrolytic and catalytic cleaning. He told me they were just different manufacturers' names for the same thing, which is of course nonsense:-

The guys in the PC world section might be a bit better.
