Over Voltage/Under Voltage for Transformer Feeders

10/25/2023 9:10 AM

Is it usual to provide transformer feeders against overvoltage(59) and undervoltage (27)?

I'm used to feeding transformer primary just through a disconnector (which is always ON).

Is an overvoltage (59) or under voltage (27) necessary for a breaker controlled transformer? If so, at what voltage ranges?

Under voltage and over voltage protections would be provided if the system was vulnerable to these conditions...Auto load shedding in an under voltage situation would only apply if you had additional loads to shed, and over voltage protection if the system was prone to such spikes...otherwise no need

Most transformers are protected for overcurrent and earth fault, for larger ones differential protection is provided. Normally UV and OV is not used

No, it is not usual. If the subject project has specific requirements like automatic switching to DG power supplies (in case of main supply to transformer feeder fails), that is different.
