What are the strange arcane units your device is displaying?

Not my choice.

About 250 years ago the early form of British Intelligence MI6 discovered that a bunch of bloody Yanks were going to head over the pond and not come back. They wanted to develop a way of causing as much permanent harm as possible to those that were leaving. So, the MI6 guys got together and had a drinking game. The goal was to come up with the most stupid and inefficient methods of measurement to permanently infect our ability to do anything.

During the drinking game they decided that the king's thumb would be one unit, it was called the inch. It was such a stable and universal standard (not). They then decided to use the king's foot as another unit of measure, it was called the foot. The bigger unit was 12 times the smaller unit because that made conversions so easy (not). Their next unit was 3 feet and they called it the yard. Three feet is appropriately called a yard because, well, you have to be in a really serious drinking game to understand that one. Once again, a multiplication factor of three guarantees that we will never do conversions quickly. Having the mile be 5280 of two units smaller is another example of high blood alcohol logic. And for fluids, the fluid ounce is based upon the king's, well, let's not go there.

So basically, the British developed a stupid system of units, exported it with the Yanks, sat around laughing their heads off at how stupid we were, and they then converted over to a wonderful metric system where almost everything is converted by a simple shifting of the decimal point.

We're still laughing. The only problem is that we have to trade with you which means converting our lovely metric units to imperial so we now have to work in 2 systems simultaneously.

There is some satisfaction in that little bit of pay back. It's not enough to make us even, but every little bit of karma makes us feel a little better.

I've used a company called Swisco for a lot of hard to find hardware for older windows and doors.

Do you know the brand of the window? Are the single pane windows? do they slide up and down or awning type that open out? Is the part part of the window itself or casing? If you can't identify the approximate year and brand you might have to make it, or have some made....doesn't look like anything I've ever seen...

They are single pane. I believe the top is fixed. The bottom can slide up and down. They are about 30 years old. I don't know what brand they are.

Thank you. I'll order some. I'm not sure that they are a 100% exact match, but they do look very close.

Agreed, this appears to be a needle point grid (or grille) clip.

Thank you.

I didn't know DoorMan also does windows. That almost sounds like you are crossing over the line. Next thing you know, dogs will like cats and Ohio State fans will get along with Michigan fans.

Doors and windows sort of go together. Sometimes a door IS a window.

Two different solutions for a hole in the wall.

I see we have a CR4 member Windowman.
