Dredger Winch Failure

07/05/2024 1:59 AM

Hi guys,

it's been a longtime I have not heard about this forum. I'm back with another topic and question to ask you.

We recently encountered failure on one of the winches of the dredger.

According to you, what could be the failure modes of this. I have attached some pictures

It looks like you've experienced a lubrication failure to me...whether this is due to lack of maintenance or parts failure I can't say....

I'm not fond of that debris and the water-like liquid (?) in the open ball-bearing region. What kind of failure symptoms is this winch presenting; circuit breaker blowing, grinding vibration, smoke, seizure, quiet non-operation, quiet weak operation, overheating, intermittent operation or does it just play "Blue Suede Shoes" in the wrong key?

I never said a motor can play music well or even with a modicum of emotion.

If this dredger is for a gold mine, give us directions to the mine (so we can inspect the problem in person).

Lack of lubricant, wrong type lubricant, wrong type bearing seal or shield, shock loading, contamination of lubricant, leaking seals on output shafts,or a combination of any of the above.Need more information and pictures.
