Is anyone else getting this message when trying to reply to a post from Solar Eagle on mobile phones;

"Problem!

You are attempting to do (or view) something that is not permitted. "

I often get a similar message when I reply to a comment from Mrs. Doorman…

Yup, I'm getting exactly the same message.. must be a fault somewhere in the access route... I can't even get back to the original discussion !
Have mobile phones taken over our lives ? Yes! Have mobile phones killed conversation yes !
I was recently sitting in a faily crowded McD's... I did not see any couple or group of friends talking to each other, they were all glued to their Mobiles, either reading / Watching or texting..
I read a report about an Italian Restaurant owner that has banned Mobiles being used in his restaurant so people can enjoy their food in peace and actually talk to the people at the table.. I think that is a great idea.
I was sitting in the waiting area at vehicle registration office and a guy three seats away had his phone set that every time somebody replied to him it pinged really loud..after 5 minutes of this constant Ping-ping I asked him to turn the volume off.
He did it without making a fuss but said he didn't realise it bugged other people !
What did we do without Mobiles before ?? OK some people had Bleepers / Pagers but they were generally people in Hostpitals or emergency services.

I think mobile phones have just widened and deepened the conversation, people start searching for answers to their questions, knowledge grows exponentially....texting can enable a conversation that is less demanding of your immediate attention, another good thing...

The days before mobile phones, were like the dark ages, so much time wasted with communication, might as well been using smoke signals...especially in emergency situations, how many lives have been saved by mobile phones. who can say...

but to have an entire library at your fingertips all the time, that my friend will cause a gap-up in education that will be a fundamental shift in human history...

More and more people are making their living on line now by running entertainment channels on specific topics, internet stars, making millions, running businesses that are internet based, buying selling trading exchanging, it's all taking place on a tremendous and growing scale...

So I think what is taking place now is only going to become more so over time...

I personally think the future will see a merge of computers and humans, and the interfaces will become so effortless and easy (we) will not even notice, perhaps even eventually incorporated before birth, which itself, may be automated and controlled.

Imagine every person having access to all information, all language; Will it bring about world peace or more battles?

IMHO: Judging by the past, peace will not prevail for very long.

Hi, just being reading your post again, one comment you made "running businesses that are internet based, buying selling trading exchanging, it's all taking place on a tremendous and growing scale..."
Thanks to this usage, High streets and shopping mall's are now just rows of empty shops where people were employed but those businesses died because of the internet, people don't go out as much due to Amazon & Co., High streets used to be full of people out shopping, having a break and sitting at a cafe for a coffee..it was part of life but now it is all changing because of the Internet.
Only potential benefit what I can see, you don't have to go "Shopping" with the wife anymore as she can now do it from home and that leaves you free to go in the garage or watch sport on TV. !!

Trouble with written language is that without hearing intonation and visual queues it can be lost in interpretation. Thus I don't know which of us has tongue more in cheek....

What is 'gap-up in education', the phrase is new to me?

I especially love, "More and more people are making their living on line now by running entertainment channels on specific topics, internet stars, making millions, running businesses that are internet based, buying selling trading exchanging". Yep, activities devoid of any productive value. Put another way, skills that would be so useful in a post-apocalypse world. Perhaps Elon will select an Influencer or drop-shopper for his fist crewed mission to Mars. One can but hope, and that he has plenty of seats.

The more we learn, the less we know. Perhaps.

One can only hope the seats will be filled by DT and his cronies, then the world will hopefully return to what was "normal" before DT 2 appeared on the scene again.
