AI-Controlled Fighter Jets

It's a slippery slope. The AI may just decide it's too risky for the carbon based life forms to be in the loop at all.

Who knows, this may be the ultimate goal of evolution. Nature is efficient and eliminates that which is not necessary. Use it or lose it as the saying goes.

Humans may just be a link in the process. Why do we think we are special? Of all the species that have ever existed on this planet, everything alive today is only 1%.Everything else is extinct.

Plastics in the ocean could become a food chain and islands, as barnacles and seaweed that attach to it and sink to the bottom, eventually forming islands.

Landfills will eventually be at he bottom of oceans as well and subducted by plate tectonics, and spewed out from volcanoes, with not a trace of previous life.

Perhaps this has happened before, we would never know.

There has been sufficient time in Earth's history for many sentient creatures to come and go.. perhaps even a species intelligent enough to develop inter galactic travel, and exceed the speed of C.

We(humans) have only been here a short time in Earth's history.

According to AARP magazine, eating lots of sugar makes you age 7 times faster. So eating desert at all makes your life shorter.

So whadda ya want? Quality or quantity?

I eat what I want. I see obituaries where people 90+ years old passed away. Did they worry about fats, cholesterol, etc?

They knew nothing about them.

I have known older people that followed all the rules and died young, and those that broke all the rules and lived into their 90's.Go figure.

Heredity is a very big factor.

We are not promised even the next heartbeat. Life is short.

Maybe. There is an upside!

Of course, with no people there will be no human wars, but we will not know about it.

The battles however, will continue. Some societies have been here millions of years before humans, and will continue long after we have disappeared; Take ants for example: They still battle for territory and resources. There are even ants that capture other ants and enslave them, making the slaves do all the work. Eventually the slaves realize what is going on and revolt, leave the colony and start their own colony which flourishes for a while, then the cycle repeats. We live in a universe of a game that we humans might call "King on the Mountain" with every living organism, all the way down to organisms that do not fit neatly into our definition of life, trying to overcome the competition.

The UK & probably other nations are already deploying drones in the Middle East, flown by pilots located at RAF bases in the UK.

Total AI control removes the human element altogether.

Exciting, but dangerous, especially since we do not know the ultimate outcome.

It would become a war of technology, not ideology.

A small sample of this type of war has already begun.

The US has been flying Reaper drones with Hellfire missiles in the Middle East from a base in Tampa, Florida for over 20 years.

There is still a human element making the decisions to select the target and to fire .

Total AI will eliminate the human interface altogether.

The question is ,who will program the AI initially, and how can the instructions be made totally hack proof?

A misguided missile could be blamed on a "computer error", which is the most popular whipping boy now .

Fighter pilots for a couple of decades knew this was coming but just not when. Fighter pilots are picked to have great hand eye coordination, eye sight, decision making abilities and are physically very fit. But they cannot even come close to the capabilities of machine abilities who cannot black out from excessive G forces.

Heck these new AI systems could solve a Rubik's cube in less than half a second while pulling 15 Gs. We cannot compete in this space except as observers but just done blink.
