Speed Calculator

07/20/2025 5:28 AM

Is it possible to get a 2.0 Newbeetle up to 58mph in 1500 feet? The ticket I got last night says my approx. speed was that but I just came around a corner and am wondering if I could have got it going that fast in such a short distance.

I have a headache.

Hi, here is a copy of the New Beetle Acceleration times

VW Beetle 2.0 TSI acceleration times in kilometers per hour from 0. So 58mph is roughly 94 kmh. As you can see from the graph your car only requires about 6 secs to accelerate from zero. You stated you were already rolling as you just came round a corner so your time will be even shorter to reach 58 mph. lets say about 4 seconds and you are at 58mph.
At the time you were blitzed you had covered 1500 ft. To cover that distance at 58mph you need 17,5 secs but you were already at that speed within 4 secs. so the answer to your question is yes its more than possible to get up to 58mph within 1500 feet.
Theorectically from a Standing start you could hit 87 mph in 1500 feet.
