Do Not Call List Does Not Work

Unfortunately, most of these calls are from overseas countries that don't care about your privacy. They seem to have multiple numbers to use so blocking them does not help.

The gears of United States governmental machines turn slowly. You just gotta give it a while.

The ‘Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991’ started your protection from these slick and smooth talking scoundrels.

The next step taken by the US government in the protection of our right to not be molested over the phone was the ‘Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003’. This was the legislation that established the actual list of phone numbers that are off limits to telephone sales pitches.

This is why it takes 24 years to build a bridge in the USA.

So fear not, your government hears your plea and is working hard make your life better, making the American Dream a reality. Ya just gotta give ‘em about ten more years to make it happen.

Be advised, my fellow Americans, telephone solicitation for political contributions were exempted from the prohibition of telephone solicitations for contributions - this is for the good of the country. There are also a few other exemptions and loopholes that may raise a few eyebrows, but rest assured these are also in your best interest; after all, our governmental legislative body is working hard so all may enjoy the American Dream.

Some people will tell you that time does not exist. The hard working members of the US federal legislative body are taking full advantage of this belief.

I am finally complaining about it.

One of the 3 biggest lies in the world:

"I am from the government and I am here to help you."

AND the other two:

"If I am elected I will..."

"I will pay you back next week."

Surely the most common lie is when you tick the box that says "I've read the terms & conditions".

We have caller ID and voice mail. Program friends and relatives into caller-ID. Don't answer unknown numbers. If it's important, they can leave a message.

It's not perfect, but it doesn't waste our time.

The phone will still ring at 1 am and all hours of the night.

If you have a child or relative or friend that is traveling you cannot just ignore it.

You have to check the phone to see who called.

I want to block the ring of unknown calls.

There ought to be a way to do that.

Maybe a code that can put the source into a loop back mode, requiring manual intervention to break the loop?

I know this can be done with the right equipment, and have seen it done for remote testing and diagnostic programs testing purposes, but I do not have the equipment.

Landline or cellular being called at 1:00 AM?

If cellular, I believe most devices have a ‘Do Not Disturb’ setting, when a user defined time period will not allow unsaved numbers to ring through. If multiple phones in the room, make sure all are set the same!

If landline… dunno… maybe some residential devices have a similar feature built in.

My landline phone at home has a feature that means if the incoming number is not in my phone list, the phone asks the caller to identify themselves & gives me the option to accept, reject or block the call.

Unfortunately, spammers et al uses spoofing where the caller ID shown is not theres and difficult to trace.

Difficult, but not impossible.

With enough $$ almost anything can be traced if it was ever on the "net.

Not easy, but not impossible.

If there was a sufficient bounty on the invasive snakes in Florida, they would soon become extinct.

I wonder how much money and people the Do Not Call List requires for maintaining a false sense of importance. Notice the politicians exempted themselves?

I think they should not be allowed to bother us either.

I found the same thing, its just a matter of time that there'll be 'an app for that'.

And then the spammers will developed the next gen protocols...

like they say about idiot proofing something, they'll come up with a better idiot.
