Transformer RTD Temperature Settings

09/19/2026 12:17 PM

MV (Primary)/LV (secondary) Transformer:

Transformer Insulation Class: F (155 degree C)

Temperature rise limited to: 95k

Ambient temperature: 45 degree C

LV (Primary)/LV (secondary) Transformer:

Transformer Insulation Class: H

Temperature rise limited to: 95k

Ambient temperature: 45 degree C

How is the rationale for deciding the alarm and trip settings for winding temperatures?

The most important factor in setting the temperature alarms & trips in the nature of the temperature sensing equipment.

Embedded multiple RTDs, thermal replica equipment with current sensing, oil temperature RTD.

The manufacturer and designer will have the best advice for setting alarm and trip settings.
