Vibration Motor AC DC

12/13/2007 2:49 AM

How do I workout the spec's that will allow me to design a vibration motor to fit into a given area, I have been unable to find any engineer in Australia that has experience or can direct me to a business that has the technical skills to help.

  • AC motor 220v - variable speed, double shaft, eccentric weight offset each end, shaft can be supported with bearing at end.
  • DC motor 9v - as above except single shaft.
  • Restriction on area are, DC motor & weight - 80mm dia x 150mm long, AC motor & weight - 80mm dia x 400mm long.
  • Speed 400 - 800 rpm , 50-60hz.
  • DC 9v - rechargeable battery area - 80mm dia x 100mm long.

I have tried micro DC vibration motor 3.5v with a 24mm dia to prove concept works, the obvious lack of grunt / G force that, is exerted, is evident.

I obviously lack the skills to go beyond this point without expert advice.

How can you help me.

What do you require this motor to do? Most vibration test tables use large speaker drive units minus the cone so the centre of the driver is fastened to the plate which is free to move with the body of the drive unit firmly bolted down. the whole rig should be very stirdy and the driver fed from a good amplifier and audio generator.

There should be much more info if you google vibrating tables. The whole unit can be scaled acording to you needs. Various types of transducer can be used to provide the required amount of enery.

When you say "vibrations" what do you mean? what is the goal? which is the mass you want to move with which amplitude and a which frequencies (DC or AC the rpm can be changed)?

There are not enough data to make an estimation.

The V motor intended use is in equipment used within the health and therapeutic professions.

The instrument would be held in one or both hands, the object of the instrument is to move the hand in a circular motion around the axis of the V motor.

The amount of force exerted should be such that it affects the muscle structure from the hand to the shoulder of the patient.

Amplitude - 10mm

Frequency - 0 - 18reps/sec

Rated frequency - 50-60Hz

Force exerted - approx 1-2G ????

The physical constraints of the apparatus can be changed in dia only.
