ASME + CAE

12/14/2007 4:38 AM

Hi...I am working on high pressured parts design. The design is done as per ASME codes. Now let me know if there are any chances of using CAR software for designing the parts? Are there any coses in ASME that suggest to use CAE software for designing the pressure parts?

Thanks in advance.

You have to use software that is written using ASME standards, which is updated and revised pretty regularly.

And if you do design using software (which is recommended) for an ASME certified project. YOU and not the software are still responsible for it.

try this link,

hope this helps,

Before proceeding any design in accordance with ASME code using a software, the designer must satisfy himself that all procedures and equations derived in software are updated and strictly conform with the rules of ASME code. That job may be carried out by the designer / PE / any pressure vessel professional, or specialist.

We are U-stamp, R-stamp holder, and ISO 9001 certified, and I have to check by my self that the software intented to be used in design is updated and compatible with and conform to the rules of the latest edition of ASME code.

Otherwise, I have to use manual calculations. All these procedures must be defined and documented at our quality control manual.

ASME code can't recommend or suggest to use any software, it is up to you and your accuracy in design.

So true, No matter what calculations the software results comes to. The designer is still responsible for the calculations not the software.
