Steam Turbine

12/14/2007 6:55 AM

What is meant by the water rite of a turbine? Do the radial axial-bore cracks occur in the LP rotor/shaft alone? How can damaged tenons be repaired?

water rite = a company or a ritual.

It may also be a typo...

Dear Mr. AMIT

I think your question should be " what is meant by water rate of a turbine.? "

The water rate is defined as the quantity of steam required to heat the entire turbine set, namely rotor, casing stop valve, etc., to the operating temp. of the turbine, and in the process of heating the turbine, the steam is condensed and collected as condensate and measured in kgs. or tonnes.

Higher the turbine weight, higher the water rate.

Pl. refer the book Steam Turbines, by C.A.KEARTON McGraw-Hill Publication - chapter 7, "Starting the Turbine."
