The group of intrepid electrical engineering types gather in a clearing at midnight... They light a huge bonfire and stare into it for 20 minutes hoping to get an insight on...

1) What is the primary voltage of the system involved?

2) Is the primary winding a single or three phase one?

3) How many, if any, voltage selection links are on the primary?

4) What is the secondary voltage required?

5) What is the kva rating of the transformer?

6) How many output windings are there?

7) Is the secondary winding grounded?

After 20 minutes of useless staring into the flames... the dejected group comes to the sad realization that they will never be able to help the person who posed this concise and well detailed question.

I can't help you but do wish to warn you that if you get it wrong it will kill the user. I know of one case of this happening. Parts of the guy's heart were found in the large artery of his leg. If done wrong the user will be hit with thousands of volts at a relatively high amperage. Be careful.

Have a look at the gauge or diameter of both windings. The larger one is the secondary.

Well, I am yet to get an ans. My understanding goes is like, Welding Trafo primary having 3ph 3 wire supply say 415 V, Secondary 1ph 100V, 100A. High surrent is required to continue welding arc, for which the secondary cable is quite thick. My exact query is, whether the 1Ph secondary generated through 'Scott' connection to maintain a balance load on primary winding or some other connection done in practice. Any one's addition on my understanding is most welcome.
