API 2W-60 Steel Plates

12/17/2007 5:11 AM

Where can I get a track record on usage of API 2W-60 steel plates or A841 (TMCP) plates especially for tank construction?

Thanks.

Sir,

Thanks for your reply. I had the specs for A841 but I'm looking for a track record where this plate has been used for tank construction especially as a shell plate.

regards,

Azmady

Dear Azmady,

Daily, I doing a lot of designs and fabrication works for pressure vessels & heat exchangers fabricated from carbon steel and alloy steel plates such as : ASME SA285, SA515, SA516, SA517, SA387 and SA240. Till now, I didn't used SA841.

Also we use ASME SA537 for pressure vessels.

For storage tanks, may be we use some of the prescribed materials, but mainly we use structural steel plates such as: ASME SA36 and SA283.

Sir,

Thank you again for your response. We also using A36 & A283 for structural work. The reason we are looking for info on A841 is that we being proposed to use this as a substitute for A537 CL2 for shell plate. This is due to long delivery period for A537 CL2. We are also looking for option on A516 Gr 60 which has been widely used for tank shell plate and I have done it before for Sudan project but our Client still insist to use A537 CL 2.

Regards,

Azmady

Did you finally find any examples of using A841 as a substitute for A537 CL2?
