What should be specification for purchasing laptop for home use.

Start with the software you intend to run and then buy a laptop that will run those programs effortlessly. Also consider if you want to run more than one program at a time. Allow a little processor wiggle room since programs tend to get more complex over time, so get a horse that can not only carry the load today, but can manage what you might throw on its back in the future.

Get something that meets the above requirements and then find a manufacture that meets your budget.

Adapter for displaying on an HDTV screen if you have or intend to get one.

An air mouse so you don't have to diddle with a touch pad.

Extra memory.

An XP operating system.

And a reputable vendor to stand behind the product.

if i may add....

2 Gb DDR Ram.

150 Gb Hard disc

A very good video card

Wifi

Bluetooth

a good processor of atleast 2ghz.

17 inch display.....

Bring it on.....with a cup of coffee..
