Hi, Frans,

Please register, as (among other things) you'll be able to get e-mail updates of any replies.

What in your system is detecting this fault and triggering the alarm?

The alram just come from the comman alarm. The voltage when I take measurment on the termianl + = 20 volt dc, and - terminal just 5 volt dc. The system it self is floating 24 volt dc. DC power divided to DCS, SIS, radio communication, Crane, transformer sensor, protection system VCB,ACB, wet gas computer, down hole, HPU, sand filter, fiber oftic, ame others.

that is it.

Hello Guest Frans,

Best to register at CR4 as already suggested above.

You do not provide sufficient information to ensure you may be correctly answered.

For instance, if the earth leakage is happening on a regular basis, it may well be the tide going in and out at that sea platform, which are giving you the problem.

Is there a dog or other, with a weak bladder problem, urinating on a cable, or several ?

Or it could be showers of rain.........

Try searching for the fault with a Vigilex earth fault tester. The device when connected superimposes a low frequency pulse on to the 24Volt supply referered to earth. Each branch can then be traced for earth faults with a portable hand held device that incorporates a current transformer probe and electronics to make this pulse visible on a meter. It then becomes a process of elimination.

This pulse will only be present on any circuit with an earth fault, circuits not returning this pulse can be eliminated from the search.

It may be caused by lightning , by which the cable may be getting damaged . You may try with some lightning arresters to save the cable

Hi Frans,

Happy New Year everybody,

1st you should contact the UPS manufacturer to test the UPS.

2nd connecting a different types of loads to UPS is not so good, try to avoid that, usually you should keep each system connected to a seperate earth pit specialy LV data loads.

good luck
