That's a wide open question.

The short version would be: What are you gong to do with it?

If it's for web surfing and general use, mid speed and quality components are ok, but if you are planning to play a lot of graphics intensive games or use it as the base control of a home entertainment system then high end components starting with the power supply and motherboard are essential.

Are you planning to build your own? Or purchase an off-the-shelf computer?

In short, to get a detailed reply, lots more information is needed.

Good advice for PC. Purchase the best you can afford.

Keep your hard drive to actual usage ratio to no more than 4 to 1; preferably 20%. When you get it, do not run security suites..they eat up too much of your process avtivity. ALWAYS use a good registry cleaner (CCleaner, and it is free) and a good defrag program is Auslogics.com (probably the best out there).

My system is an older system (presario) and by keeping it clean and the ratios good, response time on it stays around 8ms. Oh and by the way, go in and delete all of the Windows add-ons like the "trials" and games, etc. My system is almost five years old and will run most anything I would need. If you would like I can give more specifics in pm.
