Are there any functioning nanobots?

Hello Jeret,

It does depend whether you are thinking of natural biological nanobots, or man-made ones.

Natural nanobots we have in their myriad trillions, in each cell of our bodies.

Have a good look at the Mitochondrial structure and realise just how well it has been designed here:

There have been nanomachines, man-made, sets of gears which actually work.

To see some fascinating nano-technology designs, click on:

Click on the further optional Galleries.

Structural DNA Nanotechnology Gallery

Carbon Nanotube Gallery

Molecular Machinery Gallery

Molecular Manufacturing Gallery

While most of these are theoretical some are "working animations".

Enjoy.....

Hi Sparkstation,

Those are cool galleries. If one was to make a miniature clock out of those gears, it could be called an "atomic clock" . The only problem would be the time-base. I don't suppose a pendulum would be out of the question, but it would take some doing!
