How can I find a supplier of post-it types of adhesives? I have a product which needs a strip of the permanent/temporary sticky stuff, but I don't know where to start in finding a supplier?

The adhesives used on Post-it notes is a 3M invention. Try http://www.3m.com/product/a_index/a_index.jhtml

I concur with HerbVic (767) The adhesive is a patented product, by 3-M. It has the special properties that allow it to stick but not adhere to things. I saw a TV show on adhesives recently on the discovery channel. 3-M also supplies the new painters masking tape that has the same properties.

Post-it Adhesive?

03/31/2006 9:46 AM

I don't know if it is the same adhesive used on the Post-it notes, but 3M makes an Artist's spray adhesive which sounds like it would work for you. Here is the description from the same website given above:

Product Catalog for Home & Leisure Leisure Products . . . 3M™ Spray Mount™ Artist's Adhesive 3M™ Spray Mount™ Artist's Adhesive 6065

3M™ Spray-Mount™ Artist's Adhesive 6065 Clear, 16 oz Aerosol Can,

3M™ Spray Mount™ Artist's Adhesive is a one-surface, clear, long aging, quick tack, low soak-in, non-staining, non-wrinkling adhesive.

It is excellent for short-term bonding for making layouts, keylining, creating package designs, photo composition work and negative preparation. It bonds most acetate, foils, fabrics, stat materials, light tissues and newsprint.

The adhesive requires a chemical called Polyisobutylene, aka PIB which is manufactured and sold by TPC Group headquartered in Houston, TX.
