It depends on where u are and the load current and cable rating.Normally it should not where ambient is high as 50Deg C as in some parts of India cable can overheat .

MV ≡ Medium Voltage - correct?

If the cables are insulated, you should check that the insulating material isn't going to be adversely affected by the UV in the sunlight. (Also check to see if you need to derate for added heat input from the sunlight (as per post #1)).

Insulating material, outer pvc jacket, etc of Cable are designed for high temperature etc. Water absorption test, temperature test, HV, IR etc tests are also carriedout. I understand that no standard and regulation bind cable w.r.t UV ray, expect its derating. We quote design ambient as 50 deg C in specification of cable. You can certainly use at 50 deg C provided you derate the cable and increase the no of run accordingly. Some projects uses cable tray cover to get advantage on derating.

I will suggest you to go through IEC 60287-1-1 etc all parts to know more on this subject.

Ants are not known for being dependent on MV cables for a food source.

Concur - in fact, I believe humor is always required, especially in the most serious of discussions. It's far too easy to take oneself too seriously, so do the difficult thing, and laugh!

You'll just have to get used to what passes for humor around here - I have. The original post included a typo..."is there ant problem"...which pretty obviously should have said "any" instead. Since ants don't usually bother (OR bather...) cable insulation, they won't be a problem. We hope...

I had to kill an onça that was sleeping under my office's table... but...memean

As I understand it, even the part of Brazil that IS a "big forest" is not devoid of people anymore. And yet, the savage animals most common are likely two-footed and wear clothing... Hope you don't have to kill any of THEM!

Hey, Deivid, lighten up! No-one is having a go at you (or the original poster). Guest (post #5) was just making a light joke at the expense of the OP having made a typo. Enviro was just explaining a point. You're very welcome to come along and make any comment you like (within reason!).
