Company for Internship

01/07/2008 12:09 AM

Hai everybody,

I am a student in Netherlands. Actually I come from Indonesia. I spend my last year in Netherlands to get my degree in my home university in Indonesia. It is a kind of double degree program. I have problem now. I should have company for my internship starting on February 2008. It is injury time now. I hope it's not too late. I have applied for several companies like NACAP, BOSKALIS, Dutch Dredging, etc, but I haven't got the answers yet, and some of them also rejected me. Do you have other names of Dutch companies I should try? (I am interested in water-related subject, harbor and coastal engineering, construction management) Do you have any advice so I can get internship? Any suggestion for CV that match with dutch companies? I don't have any work experience before, does that influence?I haven't had any interview, what it likely will be? what they will ask? I really need the internship for accomplishing my study and also for my future career. If you have any information, please let me know..

I'm assuming you speak Dutch / Flemish fluently? Your English is pretty good.

What is you major area of study, what are you interested in doing for a career? Do you have any prior work experience?

Have you looked at companies in Belgium, especially around Antwerp? Does the university have any job placement services?

You should also attach a copy of your CV. What are you using so far.

Interviews are a conversation of questions and answers, both to gauge knowledge and also how well you would fit into a team of people. There are lots of books on the topic but I think the thing is to be professional, polite and honest.

Beyond that it's a huge topic. If you can provide more information maybe I can help more.

Good Luck!

Thank you for your response..

Unfortunately, I don't speak Dutch yet. I just have been here for 4 months. I haven't learned Dutch before. I just realize that it is quite hard to get a job here in Netherlands for someone who can't speak Dutch.

Actually, I can only have internship in Dutch companies. It is a regulation from the program or scholarship that bring me to Netherlands.

I do not have any prior work experience. That's why I really need the internship so I can be well prepared to have career in civil engineering. My major area of study is Harbor and coastal engineering, but I am interested in water-related subject as well.

I don't know how to attach pdf file here. I cannot find the feature. Can you tell me how to do it?

Thank you for your concern. I really need your help.

Actually I have never attached a pdf either, but you can email me a pdf at ejsasp@rit.edu if you would like me to review your CV.

I think you have a bit of a problem if you have to intern at a Dutch company but don't speak Dutch. I think you will have to find a large international company to be able to use English, or a manager who speaks English.

If the university has requirements for an internship they will usually (well, here, but maybe not where you are) have a group that helps to place the students with companies. Is there such a group at your university?

Hello,

Did you mean Inland going Vessels?

Well, Boskalis and Dutch Dredging are Sea giong Vessel companies.

Than important is what is your study direction. Are you an Engineer or?

Do you speak the Dutch language? Do you need practical experience?

Please let me know on info@aramholding.ch
