We need a little more information before we can help you.

What do you need to know?
What do you already know?
What resources do you have available?
What research have you done previously?
What is your level of engineering experience?
Have you worked with pipe before?
What does your company produce and how is your role related to this?

Is your company only doing products for the country they're located in or are they exporting?

There are different design codes for different countries.

FOR WHAT?

Everthing carried in pipes such as Air, Acid, Oil, Liquid Meat, etc has it's own specific requirements.

What are you trying to do. A bit more info' and, I'm sure there will be somebody to give you the right answers!

ASME Pressure Piping Codes: Standards for the identification, design and welding of piping systems and pipelines.

ANSI B31.1: Power Piping.

ANSI B31.3: Process Piping (Refinery Piping.

ANSI B31.4: Liquid Transportation Systems for Hydrocarbons, Liquid Petroleum

Gas, Anhydrous Ammonia, and Alcohols.

ANSI B31.5: Refrigeration Piping.

ANSI B31.8: Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems.

ANSI B31.9: Building Services Piping.

ANSI B31.11: Slurry Transportation Piping Systems.

ANSI A13.1: Scheme for the Identification of Piping Systems.

ANSI B31G: Manual for Determining the Remaining Strength of Corroded Pipelines, (A Supplement to B31, Code for Pressure Piping).

In which branch of piping systems you are interesting?

Note. There are a lot of other codes and standards if you need.

Your company should have a library in which you can find ANSI, ASME, and OSHA. You should spend any free time you have browsing the library to become familiar with all its contents and if you have the time, like during lunch, start looking through ANSI, ASME, and OSHA for those areas in which you are working. It is not important that you memorize the material, but rather, it is important that you know where to look for the answers when you have questions. Also, do not be afraid to talk about your work with your supervisors and Engineers. Any good supervisor we be happy to give you advice. If he doesn't do so, then he has no business being a supervisor in the first place.

Dear chtank, I think you mean the Guest who ask the question, not me.

In addition to all the other advice you have been given I suggest you go to:

www.pipingdesigners.com and read every thing you find there under the "buttons" across the top of the page.

Good stuff.
