For an aluminium component I require to achieve surface finish of Ry 9.0 with low pressure casting process. Currently I am getting Ry 30 surface finish. Please suggest the process parameters required or die coat material? Any more suggestions? Thanks

Hello Can you specify with the measurements. Are you looking in finish in microinches or in microns. Whats is the surface finish of you tool that is being used. Have you done any hard coating inside the tool. like nitriding. what is the grade of aluminiunm you are using. what is the casting pressure. have you given sufficient air vents in tools. The surface finish required in microns. The tool is having polished finish of Ry 1.2 . No Nitriding on tool. The Aluminium used is AC4B (JIS std)having 9% silicon & 0.45% Fe.The casting pressure used 0.4 bar, also sufficient air vents provided.
I got one reply to use Centrifugal process. Can you describe what are the advantages of centrifugal over Low Pressure casting ? How can I get better surcface finish with centrifugal?
