When your looking to prove or disprove any myth Snopes is the place to do it.They have the whole history and the e-mail that kicked the whole thing off .
I guess that it is natural for people to think that this could happen. If you've ever burned plastic in a campfire and you see the toxic smoke coming out of it; I guess you could just think some equivalent must be happening in the microwave.

I believe this is a hoax, but who regulates the FDA? What if they blow it or rush something through before it's completely detemined to be safe?
