mark as read

01/13/2008 3:53 AM

I have chosen to mark my list of answers as "read". this option is offered at the end of answers .I would like to undo but right click doesn't allow it. How do I return to unread?

I suppose you're referring to the list of "Subscribed Discussions".

When I was new, I was wondering how to mark the discussions as "read". That was until I found the button waaaay down at the bottom. Unfortunately, there's no button to mark the selected discussions as "unread".

I'm guessing that you just want a way to get back the list of "new posts" in the thread. When you mark the discussion as read, you lose that list.

If you want you can suggest that CR4 put that feature in. Email them at cr4admin@globalspec.com.

I think that CR4 stores a single list of "read" answers, so once you have changed it (by marking as read) there would be no way to recover the previous state.
However, if you still have your browser open, you can return to the previous list using the back button. (I sometimes use mark-as-read before I'm ready, so it's not unusual for me to do this)

On a related subject, I'd like to be able to mark individual posts as read, so I can return later without remembering or going through everything, but I've not found how to do that either.

Well I guess if you accidentally marked them as read... you could always go to that discussion either saying 'back' in your browser or by visiting your own profile and going to that forum.

The suggestion about the selective comments as read is really good and useful.

Some large forms are really painful to go thru tho each unread comment is listed as a shortcut.

Thanks Mrinny.

Topic management

This is sound advice! Specially for new comers! When an advice is be posted at the beginning of any topic and that advice might work, verify it immediately or guard it along other good advices for analysis and decision or synthesis on the said topic.A file on the topic should be created for later use. Otherwise mark read
