Can anyone advise me of an NDT method where we can structurally examine a crane (mobile, stationary, etc.), without removing the paint, with sure fire success?

Please call Rex at Tidewater Testing Services Inc. Tel. 757-294-5112. Tell him John K. referred you to him and I believe he can help you. He has been in the crane testing business for many years, and if it is possible he will know.

The NHRA have a requirement for all cars to be examined before the race season starts. Most tracks use a simple method that has been tried and true to the world of imagery. MRI is the best form of inspecting metals for cracked welds and fatigue. There are several portable units available that have a sensor probe and a small view screen that does give a readable image of your UUT being inspected. Good luck.
