Guest,

Start by contacting an Authorize Inspector certified by ASME,

Hartford Boiler is one

You well need a WPS Weld Proceedure, for the repair. When you do this, its can be just as efficent to get the 'U' stamp also.

you may need help with the write up for the WPS, what is needed is a scope, what type of vessels you'll be repairing, in the field or shop, material types, 316L, 304, hastoloy, thickness, types of weld joints, type of welds, and such. And the WPS can always be amended for unlist material types/ or joints.

Need more help you can email me.

website address for hartford (insurance company) www.hsb.com would be an independent third party to insure tht you are following your proceedures and verify your calculations are correct.

Not to mention the reference material that your have to purchases.

not to mention you have to get your welders (people) certified for the weld positions and also ceritfied gauges and such, welder logs, travelers. there is paper work involved.

After looking at the site, this saves alot of time for your reports. but nothing as far as implementing them, with proceedures, higharchy and such. My understanding is Guest is very new to this, and after you setting up your shop you are familiar with these proceedures, the guest is not. there still is amount of leg work that the guest needs to do to understand certification.

Look at the information as tools. All the infomation can be "dumped" on someone but the tools are only as good as the person who knows how to use them.

Thanks for the link again, I wish I had it when I set a shop to be certified.

I recommend to apply for both U-stamp and R-stamp, since the cost of both stamps together will be higher than the cost of any single stamp by not more than 5%.
