I have a photo 9.9Mb and want to upload in my flicker account but failed due to exceeded size. is there any way to reduce the size upto 5Mb same like ZIP? so that i would be able to upload it as my account have only 5Mb limit.

Hello Signode,

Please advise present Format:

  1. Fixed
  2. Animated
  3. Movie
  4. Other - Specify please.

If the picture is fixed format (Non -moving) then download the excellent freeware Irfanview, and instal it on your Computer, from here:http://www.irfanview.com/

Irfanview is totally free, no malware, bugs, viruses etc of any kind.

There is a very small learning curve, and once you open a picture in Irfanview, you can use the Image -> Resize/Resample method of resizing that pic to suit.

If your present fixed pic is .bmp (Windows Bitmap) then you should be able to shrink it down to .jpg with Irfanview, to around 400kB file size.

WinRAR will shrink it slightly more, perhaps down to 320kB.

Advise further if needed.

Kind Regards....

Have you got access to photoshop? Or any other image manipulating soft ware that enables you to just save it as a smaller file? thats what I do.

Sparks recommendation is right on. A photo that is 9.9MB is most likely an insanely high resolution. If you use a program to reduce that resolution to 800x600, and save it as a .jpg or .png you should certainly be under the size limit and still have a decent looking picture. Of course, my resolution recommendation is just a guideline. The important thing with reducing a photo's resolution is keeping it proportional with the original to prevent distorting.

I personally use Photoshop for these functions, but in addition to Sparks recommended software, there are a lot of people that like GIMP for similar activities. It is a good freeware program that is well supported by the open source community.
