Try this. It works both on local networks and over the internet.

i had a problem a while back with my PC. All USB ports weren't working. A mate helped out by using his computer to take remote control of my computer using a program called Mikogo www.mikogo.com

don't know what he did to fix the usb ports, but he took control of computer very easily. and control works both ways

HI

If you want to use the remote desktop facility that windows xp offers you have to make sure that it's enabled to receive a connection from a remote machine. To enable press windows +pause (right click on my computer and goto properties), goto the remote desktop tab, tick the box that says Allow this computer to accept incoming connection or something of that sort. If it is enabled then the windows firewall may be enabled and blocking the remote desktop service. Open up the firewall options and make the remote desktop an exception or you can disable the firewall to make sure that that remote desktop service is working (make sure enable the firewall).

If you don't want to use remote desktop you can use WIN VNC. I use this program on my home network with my firewall enabled (allowed the exception).
