Well I could answer this in detail but it would take a day to type out and fill several pages of CR4, so to be honest unless you want a particular function explained it would be better if you tried searching for 'oscilloscope' in wikipedia.com.

ya,sure,thanks for responding for my question,i'm an engg first year electronics and communications engg student, from sastra university,

i was asked to design a music equilizer which can display the variations in the sound from the sound source on a CRO with any type of output,so my question is how to get different outputs on CRO IN desired way,so please reply me with an answer, thanking you sir,

Your description of the task is unclear to me. Do you require to display the pre-equalised spectrum in real time? That doesn't sound like an undergraduate project.Do you require to scan the spectrum slowly - an audio spectrum analyser? That would be beyond the scope of most first-year projects unless you have detailed preliminaries to work from.
